The Girl Effect

Did you know that…

When girls and women earn income, they reinvest 90% of it into their families.
When a man earn income he only reinvest 30 to 40% of it into his family.

One quarter to one-half of girls in developing countries become mothers before age 18.

70% of the 130 million out-of-school youth are girls.

Want to know more? I invite you to visit http://www.girleffect.org
A great website to discover the power of the girls, and especially the power of the teenagers in developing countries. They can change the world, they can change their world and their lives. But they need us to help them to start this change!

Companies with more women are more efficient!

Companies should hire more women in their staff and try to help them to improve, that's what a French professor reveals in his study. Michel Ferrary has seen that companies that have at least 35% of women in their staff earn more, are more efficient and hire more people!

A great use of Internet for clothes, by Camaieu

I've just found an amazing use of Internet for all women that like to shop online and especially for pinups that like to use Internet to discover new beauty possibilities!

It's in french, but it worths to see: http://www.camaieu.fr/Content/TendancesMode/PlayStyle.aspx?pro1=444053&var1=2800013451299&cou1=Haut2&col1=0902#play

- On the left you will see several women.
- Each one correspond to one type of clothes: shirts, coats...
- Click on one of them. Then select a clothe in the middle. The result appears on the right.
- Then click on the second woman on the left. Select another clothe in the middle: it appears on the right above (or under!) the first clothe you've selected!

So it's very easy to find new clothes that fit together ! I like it!
Do you like it? Do you know other shop (in english ?) that do the same?
Then don't hesitate to share it! Let us a comment or email us at postmaster[at]wewebwomen.com

Help other women to create their job in one click!

The Ali Magazine enlights the micro-finance concept.
If you've got the Citizen WebWoman Power and want to help other women (and men!) to create their own activity and therefore lift themselves out of poverty, you can do it easily online. At http://www.kiva.org or another microfinance website...

And I can't highlight this sentence from the Ali magazine article:

What has turned microfinancing into a global phenomenon is the Internet. There are now more than a dozen websites such as GlobalGiving, MicroPlace, and MicroVest, where the ability to transform someone’s life is just a click away

Writing the WeWebWomen Manifesto...

For a few days I'm writing on the WeWebWomen Manifesto tat I've decided to publish the 13th of September... that is: next sunday!
Time is going fast, but it's ok:
I will launch it and launch the new website next week-end!

Why the 13th of September?
- because sometimes we need deadline to take action and decide (and focus on) the priorities! Even if I don't like deadlines...
- because it will be still in the first part of september, that means: its' still the beginning of a new year of business...
- because it's my birthday, and it's also my favorite day number ;-)

So be ready for this first official step in the WeWebWomen movement history!

Why are we dedicated only to women?

I would never had thought that one day I'll do something specific for women.
When I was young I didn't see any difference between men and women. I mean: when I saw men being powerful, or doing this kind of job, or that kind of thing, I always identified like I did for a woman. My only thinking was only: I would like to do that, or I don't like and I won't do that. It was not: can I do that? Not even: 'oh, I can't do that'...

When thay made a law in France in order that 50% of elected people be women, I was against. I didn't think (and I still don't think) that quotas a re a solution to help women have the place they deserve in our societies.
At the contrary I deeply believe that if a woman want to be a politician, or a business woman, or whatever she wants to be, she just has to put herself in motion and go and make all she has to do to get it.

But I must admit that with experience, and getting older I have more experience ;-), I realized that things are not so easy.
Even men that are very polite and civilized can still have behaviours against women that tend to make them feel uncomfortable in certain situations or issues. It creates sometimes a lack of self-confidence. For example, I meet a lot of women that want to launch their business on Internet. But there is always a moment when they stop and say: 'oh, for the technical part I don't know, I will ask my husband to call you and talk with you about this'. It's amazing! We are talking about THEIR business, and suddendly they think it's baout TECHNICAL SKILLS! And even if their husband won't be part of their business at all, these educated women ask them to talk to my team and take decision about what to do whit their website!

I mean: do they want to have a marketing stratgy online and sell their items, or do they want to run a software?

But the thing is: lot of women still are very reluctant about technical stuffs. Even when technology has nothing to do with how they will use the thing.
And because they think they should have technical skills to do certain things, they prevent themselves from doing things and from improving their life, or their business situation.

That's mainly why I finally decided to dedicate WeWebWomen only to women: in order to help the women that don't tap into the power of Internet (and it's a great power!) because they are afraid of those softwares and langages created by a man-oriented culture that they don't understand, to gain confidence into what I call their 'WebWoman Power'... And, of course, to help the women that are alredy aware of their 'WebWoman Power' to go further and expand it at their maximum ;-)

WeWebWomen

I already received answers to the Auto-Interviews propositions... And I only sent few proposals at the moment!

WeWebWomen starts to exist by itself. That's the first step. And it's exciting!

It's a lot of emotion to see something that has been in your mind become real, and become something that exist in other people's mind too...

The power of Internet

I love Internet. I still remember with emotion the first website I connected to from home. It was 11 p.m. and I went on cnn.com, though I was in France. Because it was the only website I remembered: known french companies didn't have(or didn't promote) websites at that time... I was amazed to have the possibility to read american news from my parisian appartment! It opened a completely new and POWERFUL world to my mind!...

Since then I never stopped tapping into the POWER of Internet. To find usefull information for my private life, to learn, to make business... And I'm happy to have started the WeWebWomen movement to help other women to tap into the POWER of Internet too, to connect together and to share our own WebWoman POWER! Because we don't have all the same WebWoman Power, there are so many things to share together ;-)

You want to connect with us? Subsribe to the WeWebWomen newsletter, and you'll receive soon an exclusive opportunity to improve your WebWoman Power by connecting with other women... Don't miss it!

Add a thank you page

When you create a subscription form on your website, you should consider adding (or using) a 'thank you page' available when a new subscriber has confirmed his subscription.

Why to add a 'thank you page'?
- to thank the new subscriber... sounds obvious, isn't it ;-)
- to add a special offer or a special message that the new subscriber will be more likely to give attention to at this particular moment

I've done my homework today: I've added a thank you page to http://www.WebWebWomen.com ! And as I have decided to use this blog as a kind of a 'WeWebWomen' adventure diary... I'm writing it their. Enjoy reading this blog, and don't hesitate to let a comment if you're a woman using the 'WebPower' !

WeWebWomen - Women that grow the world through the power of the Web!

samedi 8 août 2009

One step after the other, ladies!

Make one step after the other. Don't focus on too big issue when you decide to launch your activty on Internet... otherwise you'll probably never launch it at all!

I know what I'm talking about: it took me one year to decide to launch 'WeWebWomen', despite the fact that I'm running a business and I'm used to create and launch websites!

Why did I wait so long? Because I had plenty of ideas, I wanted to be sure I'll be succesfull ith this new project, ... so I wanted to put everything under control before it will be available.

And you know what? I have never the time to do it as well as I would like to do it, and I'm hesitating between one option or another to make it... So time goes, and goes, and goes...

When I opened the subscription page at http://www.wewebwomen.com and this blog two days ago, I had changed my mind and decided to start with a little blog and a newsletter. With no specific target, but with one little ambition: to walk on my way, and to do it the more genuinely I could. Even if there is nobody around me at the moment. I will keep walking on this way, and step by step if I'm genuine I will gather women that like what I do and are greedy to discover what I have to share.

I felt free!

But yesterday I started to think again. I wondered if I did it right, if it was not too early, if I knew exactly how I could manage to drive this little blog to something bigger... I almost wanted to stop!

Then I remembered the feeling I had two days ago. And I felt free again: I'm launching this little blog and http://www.wewebwomen.com with a simple target: to share the wonderful experience I have on Internet as a business woman, and as a woman.

I like Internet because I feel free and powerfull with it: give me an Internet connexion and a computer, and I'll never be alone or without revenue. This is an extraordinary area of power for us, women. And this is what WeWebWomen is about: to help women around the wolrd to improve their lives through Internet. To go to the next level of freedom, prosperity and weel-being on YOUR life through Internet!

It does worth to do it, and to do it now! Whatever the time I have, and despite the fact that I don't control exactly where I'm going. I'm ready to focus on one step at a time, and to discover landscapes I could have not imagined with big plans... So it's official now: I'm ready to go and walk to make that trip! I'm sure I'll meet a lot of great women on my way... And I'm ready to welcome them on this wonderfull way ;-)

Don't hesitate to send me a message when you meet me ;-)

To your WebPower!
Leonie
